Dr. Hopkins has been performing general dentistry since receiving his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) from the University of Oklahoma in 1989 and has been performing dental implant procedures since completing the AAID maxi course in New York City in 1998-99. He became the third dentist in Oklahoma and the 592nd in the nation to achieve the distinguished level of board-certified diplomate of the American Board of Oral Implantology/Implant Dentistry (DABOI/ID). These credentials are verification he is an accomplished and evaluated implant specialist and not just a dentist who does implants. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry (AAID), a member of the American Dental Association (ADA), the Oklahoma Dental Association (ODA), and the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI). In addition to performing all aspects of dental implant surgery and restoration, he is also a recognized dental implant continuing education speaker. Recognition by these affiliations ensures that regardless of the complexity of your case, he can perform all aspects from start to finish of dental implant procedures at an accomplished level.
Dr. Hopkins is a born and raised native of Shawnee. He is very proud to be serving the dental needs of the community that contributed to the foundation of his accomplishments. He has been married to his high school sweetheart, Loree, since 1982. The two of them are the heart of our practice supported by an amazing dental team. Dr. Hopkins is notorious for his unique scrubs, many of our patients appreciate being serenaded by what some refer to as the “singing dentist”, and others enjoy his humor. While he naturally presents a lighthearted demeanor, he is serious about making your dental treatment as comfortable and stress free as possible. A smile is such an integral part of a person’s essence and social interaction. Optimal functions of that smile are vital to systemic health and enjoyment of meals. Dr. Hopkins loves being part of a service profession that improves smiles. Dental implantology is like none other in that it allows him and our team the ability to give a lost smile back which is immensely rewarding.
If you don’t know Dr. Hopkins as a dentist, you may know him via one of his three children plus a fabulous son-in-law or as “Pop” by his grandchildren having crossed paths among their vast array of activities. Perhaps you might recognize him or his voice from performances at Shawnee Little Theatre. Maybe you have blown bubbles with him underwater in conjunction with his being a PADI Course Director level scuba diving instructor. He enjoys photography on both land and undersea, travel, sports, woodworking, and being a goofball with his grandchildren.
