Dr. Hopkins is a born and raised native of Shawnee. He attended Sequoyah Elementary, the old, old Shawnee Jr. High that is now the Administration Building, Shawnee Mid High, and graduated Shawnee High School in 1981. He received his undergraduate bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from the University of Oklahoma in 1985 and his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry in 1989. He began practicing dentistry in his hometown as soon as the ink dried on the license. He has been a member of the American Dental Association as well as the Oklahoma Dental Association since 1989. Dr. Hopkins is a general dentist who enjoys all aspects of his field. He sees pediatric through geriatric patients. He and his dental team can accommodate the full spectrum of dental treatment. In 1999, he received advanced dental implant training at Brookdale Hospital in New York City, under the instruction of Dr. Norman Cranin, one of the pioneers of implant dentistry. He became a member of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry (AAID) that same year. He has since completed hundreds of hours of implant continuing education. He received the prestigious acknowledgment of Associate Fellow status with the AAID in 2017 and in 2018 became only the 3rd in Oklahoma and approximately 500 in the nation to achieve Diplomate status with the American Board of Oral Implantology. These credentials are verification he is an accomplished and evaluated implant dentist and not just a dentist who does implants. He is also a member of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. He can perform the complete start to finish implant restoration and any associated surgical process regardless of the complexity of your case.
Dr. Hopkins is notorious for his unique scrubs, many of our patients appreciate being serenaded by the “singing dentist”, and others enjoy his humor. While he purposely presents a lighthearted demeanor, he is serious about making your dental treatment as comfortable and stress-free as possible. Dr. Hopkins has been married to his high school sweetheart, Loree, since 1982. They have three children: Heather, Clint, & Bryan, plus a bonus child of Heather’s husband, Corbin. He is “Pop” to an ever-expanding group of beautiful grandchildren. If you don’t know Dr. Hopkins as a dentist, you may know him as a member and deacon of First Baptist Church, through his performances at Shawnee Little Theatre, or as a PADI Course Director level scuba diving instructor. He has also been and remains active in several community and civic organizations. Dr. Hopkins sees patients Monday through Thursday from 7:30 to 5:00.
